HERA Gains International Visibility at Transfiere: CETEM highlights the value of women over 45 in Europe’s science, technology and innovation ecosystem

In February 2026, CETEM represented the HERA project at Transfiere, the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation held in Málaga. Recognised as one of the largest R&D and innovation gatherings in Southern Europe, the event brings together technology centres, universities, public administrations and highly innovative companies.

As an international showcase for knowledge transfer, Transfiere offers a space for organisations to exchange ideas, build partnerships and explore disruptive technologies and emerging European research ecosystems. CETEM’s participation gave HERA valuable visibility among stakeholders working at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation.

HERA’s presence at the forum was particularly relevant because both gender and age gaps remain significant challenges in highly technological environments. Women over 45 may encounter barriers to accessing training, career-development opportunities and positions in innovation-led sectors, despite possessing extensive professional experience, leadership capabilities and strategic insight.

Through HERA, CETEM promoted a more inclusive vision of innovation—one that recognises that technological progress is not exclusively driven by younger or predominantly male profiles. Experienced women can make an essential contribution to research, innovation and business transformation when they have access to appropriate learning opportunities and supportive professional networks.

Representing HERA at Transfiere was therefore both a dissemination opportunity and a statement about the importance of diversity. It demonstrated that Europe’s scientific and technological ecosystem cannot afford to overlook the knowledge and potential of women aged over 45.

CETEM’s participation helped position HERA within an international innovation environment while strengthening the project’s call for inclusive, age-diverse and gender-balanced pathways into the jobs and skills of the future.
