The HERA Methodology is at the heart of our shared mission to empower women aged 45 and over through inclusive, flexible, and participatory reskilling pathways. Designed around four interlinked phases, Mutual Aid, Learning to Learn, Stakeholder Engagement, and Personal Action Planning, the methodology draws on adult learning theory, and community empowerment approaches to support women in rebuilding confidence, identifying strengths, and taking meaningful steps towards reskilling or re-entering the labour market.
Over the past months, the first draft of the HERA Methodology has been developed. This initial version provides a full structure for facilitators, including session plans, facilitation tips, and practical tools to support women in designing their own learning and career paths. The methodology will be piloted and improved based on feedback gathered during the Labs.
We have already taken our first steps in testing the approach: a first introductory online workshop was held with HERA Lab facilitators from all partner countries, offering space to familiarise themselves with the methodology and exchange expectations. The second workshop will take place in September in Larissa, Greece, and will focus on practical implementation.
This work marks the beginning of a co-creative journey, one that places women’s lived experiences, skills, and aspirations at the centre of learning. The methodology is a living tool, meant to evolve with the women and communities it serves. Stay tuned for updates as we move into the pilot phase across Europe.
